Art at the Heart @ Nuffield Playing Field

Summer Festival

1 - 17th August 2014

Theatre, film, music, visual art and dance

Nuffield Playing Field, Guildhall Square

A summer festival of events led by Nuffield in partnership with Art Asia, Apples and Snakes, City Eye, John Hansard Gallery, Mayflower Theatre and Turner Sims.

This summer the Art at the Heart partnership is set to bring another awe-inspiring event to Southampton’s Guildhall Square presenting a City celebration like no other with a festival of theatre, film, music, poetry, dance and installation art.

From 1st to 17thAugust this extraordinary pop-up venue will play host to an exciting programme of events with something to inspire and entertain every day of the week.

Nuffield Playing Field has been designed by Assemble Architects, who built Chichester Festival Theatre’s Theatre on the Fly in 2012 after previous accolades awarded for the creation of unique arts venues in unexpected places. The build starts at the end of June and there are opportunities for the community to engage in its creation, allowing volunteers to come together and collectively build the structure throughout July.

If you are interested in volunteering to help build the stadium or to work front of house during the festival contact Sharon Lawless at sharon.lawless@nuffieldtheatre.co.uk

The Art at the Heart festival is supported by Southampton City Council, The Sackler Foundation and Arts Council England. It forms part of the City’s Golden Jubilee celebrations and is a precursor to the exciting programme of arts which will be presented in the new arts complex which is scheduled to open early in 2016.
